Australia benefits greatly from geographic isolation and is one of the least densely populated continents on earth. Australia also happens to be in one of the most tectonically stable regions on earth!
Border Control. Surrounded by oceans that Donald Trump’s wall could only hope to weakly mimic, coupled with a highly effective maritime border protection force; Australia’s population and environment are kept in check at all times.
Natural Resources. Australia has plenty of natural resources. But it may be the distinct lack of one particular natural resource that beneficially sealed Australia’s fate as one of the most politically stable continents on earth… Oil.
Social Equity. It is the authors opinions that Australia has one of the most balanced and fair governmental and legal structures on the planet. This type of stability permits the cultivation of mutualistic relationships across religious, cultural and racial lines.
Military Alliances. Aligned socio-militarily with the West, Australia has a sizeable defensive military which coalesces locally with several US military bases. Australia is a stout member of the UN and has dutifully followed it’s obligations abroad. An attack on Australia by hostile actors would invariably result in significant push-back.
Financial Alliances. While allowing the US to take the lead in most military directives, Australian businesses and property continue to entice international buyers. The integration of multinational interests within Australian business and property sector may be seen as our insurance policy… After all, if a nation has significant interests in another nation, best see that nation continue to flourish!
Two-speed Economy. Remember the commodities boom during the Howard years? Well construction has taken the lead now. But just wait until commodities boom again!!!
All these things combine…Where else in the world would you rather be?
